NDAP’s Guide for Public

The National Dental Accreditation Programme(NDAP) is an autonomous and independent accreditation body established by the INDIAN DENTAL ASSOCIATION (IDA), to ensure safety and standardization of dental practices across its accredited OHCPs (Oral Health Care Providers).

This document is for patients receiving treatment or care from a NDAP accredited Oral Healthcare Provider. It is a guidance for the patients as to what standards of care they have a right to expect from the NDAP accredited OHCP, and what they could do on receiving poor-quality care. It also explains how NDAP ensures that the OHCPs meet its standards of quality and safety and trust, and the action taken for non-compliance.

Registration and Application for Accreditation :

As per NDAP policies, all oral health care providers who are members of the IDA are eligible for registration to the NDAP. On being declared as Eligible to apply for NDAP accreditation and signing the agreement the applicant OHCP agrees to follow all requisite terms and conditions. On being granted the accreditation status they are bound to follow all NDAP standards and continue to do so during the entire accreditation tenure. On failing to do so, the NDAP has rights to initiate appropriate action.

The NDAP conducts regular inspections to ensure that the accredited OHCPs continue to meet its standards.

Steps To Follow If Your OHCP Is Non-Compliant With The Above Standards :

Step 1 :

If you have a complaint about an OHCP, the first thing you should do is to inform its management. As per NDAP policies, every OHCP must have a well defined procedure for dealing with complaints.

Step 2 :

If you are still not satisfied you could lodge a complaint with the NDAP Panel of Grievances & Appeal, by Complaint Registration

The Ndap Process :

NDAP assessors conduct yearly surprise checks of the accredited OHCPs during the tenure of accreditation or whenever there is an evidence of any major non compliance of its standards. The entire Quality management system for every process is checked for its compliance with the standards as well as suggestions made for improvement.

If the OHCP services do not meet the NDAP standards, we suggest the changes required, however, if the services do not improve, NDAP can suspend or cancel an OHCPs accreditation status as per its policies on adverse decisions.
